Overview
A pivot allows the dish to be levelled on a surface that is not, which covers pitched roofs, sloped ground and any mounting face that was never meant to hold an antenna.
The usual choice on a site survey where nothing is flat. Levelling matters because the terminal orients itself within its field of view, and starting from an angle wastes part of that range.
